Refuelling instructions

Refuelling at a Hydri hydrogen refuelling station

Refuelling with hydrogen is quite similar to refuelling a conventional petrol or diesel vehicle. Refuelling takes approximately 3–5 minutes for cars and 20–25 minutes for heavy-duty vehicles. The process is safe and includes several built-in safety protocols. The stations are equipped with two dispensers, for 700 bar (H70) and 350 bar (H35).

STEP-BY-STEP REFUELLING PROCESS

1. Park at the correct dispenser. Switch off the engine.

2. Pay and choose dispenser on the payment terminal. Begin refuelling within 180 seconds. If the time expires, restart the process.

3. Activate: Go to the selected dispenser. If the dispenser is equipped with a touch screen, activate it by touching the screen.

4. Connect:
H70: Remove the nozzle from the dispenser. Push the nozzle straight onto the vehicle's hydrogen receptacle until fully engaged. Lift the handle lever fully upwards until it locks into place.
H35: Remove the nozzle from the dispenser. Push the nozzle straight onto the vehicle's hydrogen receptacle until fully engaged. Once correctly positioned, the nozzle locks automatically onto the vehicle. On some stations, the H35 nozzle is equipped with a rotating lever. If applicable, rotate the lever 180° clockwise, indicated by the arrow.
The nozzle must be securely connected before refuelling can begin.

5. Start Refuelling. If the dispenser has a touch screen, press Start on the screen. If no touch screen is available, press the green Start button on the dispenser (make sure you press the Start button on the correct dispenser).

6. Refuelling. The process begins with a pressure test lasting a few seconds. Do not remove the nozzle during this time. After the pressure test, the filling begins automatically. Pressure and temperature are continuously monitored throughout the refuelling process, and the dispenser fills the vehicle in several automatic stages. A hissing sound during filling is normal. When the vehicle tank is full, refuelling stops automatically. If the dispenser has a display, it will indicate Refuelling Complete. To stop refuelling before completion, press Stop on the dispenser touch screen, or if no touch screen is available, press the red Stop button on the dispenser.Do not use the Emergency Stop button unless there is an emergency.).

7. Disconnect the Nozzle.
H70: Press the release catch to unlock the handle lever and pull the nozzle straight off the vehicle receptacle.
H35: Pull the nozzle straight off the vehicle receptacle. If the nozzle has a rotating lever, first rotate it 180° counter-clockwise, indicated by the arrow, before removing the nozzle.

8. Finish by returning the nozzle securely to its holder. Compressed air will automatically purge the nozzle, and a hissing sound will be heard. This is normal. It is essential that the nozzle is properly seated in the holder to enable the next refuelling session.

To receive a receipt, tap or insert your payment card at the payment terminal again.

Troubleshooting

Refuelling does not start
- Refuelling must begin within 180 seconds after selecting the dispenser at the payment terminal. If the timeout expires, restart the refuelling process from Step 2.
- Check that the nozzle is correctly connected to the vehicle's hydrogen receptacle. The nozzle must be pushed on straightuntil fully engaged. Do not twist or rock the nozzle into position.
- Ensure that you have pressed Start on the correct dispenser.
- Check that the hose is not twisted.

The tank does not fill completely
The dispenser automatically compensates for temperature during refuelling, which may affect the filling process. If the tank is not completely filled, restart the refuelling process from Step 2.

The nozzle cannot be removed from the vehicle
Pull the nozzle straight off the vehicle's hydrogen receptacle. Do not twist, rock or force the nozzle when disconnecting it.

Important Safety Information

  • Never smoke or use open flames at the refuelling station..
  • Never attempt to disconnect the nozzle while refuelling is in progress.
  • Do not pull excessively on the hose. It may brake or become detached from the dispenser.
